At the ROOKIE level (ages 8–10), players focus on consistent contact, seeing the ball, a steady base, hands back, and hard ground balls. Mastering these fundamentals helps hitters develop control, balance, and awareness at the plate—skills that naturally set them up for the more advanced concepts they’ll encounter at the PRO level, like using their hands to generate power, recognizing pitches, and driving the ball to all fields.
